Fall Fest Reminders

• Friday October 28th from 5:30pm – 8:00pm. Admission is $3.00 for children 4 and up. Adults are free. This is a “FAMILY FUN EVENT”. All children must have an adult with them to attend.
• Parking will be available in the rear of the school and on side streets surrounding (Woodycrest Drive, Rival Court, Spruce Drive etc.) Please feel free to park on the grass in the rear of the school. There is absolutely NO PARKING IN THE FIRE LANES of the turnaround or in the driveway leading from the front of the school to the parking lot.
• Please feel free to drop off bake sale items at any time on Friday October 28th. These can be brought to the office. Please make sure that the items are single serve or pre-sliced.
• If you are donating candy, small toys or other pre-packaged treats please send them in by Thursday October 27th.
• Please be sure to include your child’s name and teacher so that we can make sure you receive recognition for any donations.

Fall Fest Update

Tonight was our first Fall Fest planning meeting and I was excited to see all who came and shared ideas with us. We’ve got lots of exciting activities planned. That being said, this is a large event for our school and it requires lots of volunteers and donations to make it great, and that’s where all of our Goodwin families come in. Within the next week there will be information coming home detailing the events scheduled for the evening and the items we hope to have donated. Every little bit helps, whether you can bake something for the sale, donate a bag of candy for trick or treat street or volunteer an hour in the gym assisting with games. All help is appreciated and goes towards making Fall Fest a fun family event and strengthening our Goodwin School community. Extra Fundraiser Supplies

We’ve been swamped with requests for extra fundraiser packets and or forms and I am happy to announce that extras have finally arrived at the school. Please contact us at goodwinpto@hotmail.com with your students name, teacher and what you need ie. full packet or just forms and I will make sure they get sent home with your child. Thanks again for working so hard to make this another successful fundraiser for the school.

Fall Fundraiser Info

The Goodwin School PTO is running our Fall Fundraiser from September 12^th to September 30^th. The money raised from this event goes directly back to the students by helping to fund field trips, family fun nights and purchase equipment and supplies for the school. The Yankee Candle fundraiser will be a great opportunity to get some early holiday shopping done while purchasing a quality product and also helping to fund programs that benefit our entire school community. 2^nd Annual Fall Fest

Our first planning meeting for Fall Fest is scheduled for Tuesday September 20^th, at 6:30 in the media center. Please join us to discuss how we can make this year even greater than last. Family Movie Night

Featuring

This comedy-adventure centers on Blu, a flightless macaw who acts more human than bird. We finally made it to the first day of the 2011-2012 school year, despite a few delays courtesy of Hurricane Irene. It was great to see so many smiling faces eager to meet their new teachers and start the new school year.

We have lots of exciting events planned for this year that we will begin discussing at our first meeting on Tuesday September 6th at 6:30pm in the library. Come on down and meet all of us, hear all about all the upcoming happenings at Goodwin and share ideas. We’d love to see you there !!!

The P.T.O. would like to thank all the families and staff members of Goodwin School for the support and contributions they have made to P.T.O. events and programs this past school year! It was a very successful year with new and exciting family nights such as Fall Fest and Singing at the RockCats and many new and energetic people have joined the P.T.O. team. We are hoping to see even more join us this fall! A special thank you goes out to our school principal, Mr. Dan Brodeur, who helps promote the programs of the P.T.O. and is always there to be a support as well as to the many teachers and staff members who have given their time or talents to helping or just share in the fun!

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank two very special and committed volunteers, who will not be returning to Goodwin in the fall, for their countless hours of volunteerism, Mrs. Marge Oney and Ms. Liz Nardella. Marge Oney has been working as part of the P.T.O. for over ten years and many of those years were spent holding a Board position, including Treasurer and President of the P.T.O. She has been the Goodwin Holiday Shoppe Coordinator for years and has poured her heart into her P.T.O. commitments in order to bring the children of our school more materials, programs, and opportunities. Liz Nardella has been working as part of the P.T.O. for the past five years and has held positions on the Board including Secretary and Vice President. She has helped to run the Book Fair for the past several years and through this dedication has helped to not only get more books into our children’s hands but also has helped to earn hundreds of dollars worth of books for our Goodwin School Library. She is a constant in the school, always willing to pitch in and lend a hand or support whenever needed. Both Marge Oney and Liz Nardella have been chosen by the staff of the school as “Volunteers of the Year” and honored by the Board of Education. Marge and Liz, we would thank you from the bottoms of our hearts, but for you our hearts have no bottom!

We hope you have a wonderful summer vacation with your families and look forward to another great year with you all in the fall!

Congratulations go out to the Co-Volunteers of the Year, named by the staff of Goodwin School…Jennifer Dorr and Tracy Robillard. They were recognized at the June 6th Board of Education meeting at CIBA, introduced by Mr. Brodeur. We appreciate their volunteerism!

THANK YOU all Goodwin families who came out to the Rock Cats game Friday night!! We had about 120 people join us for a fun night of baseball, music, fireworks, snacks..can’t forget the snacks…and of course, SINGING ON THE FIELD! The kids of Goodwin School, led by their ever-smiling music teacher, Ms. Melanie Champion, and joined by Mr. Brodeur himself, sang “God Bless America” on the field during the 7th inning stretch! They were AWESOME! A million thanks go out to Mr. Brodeur and to Ms. Champion for their dedication to our kids! The kids may always remember getting to go out on the field and singing with their Goodwin friends!
